I am currently working and residing in Pittsburgh, PA, born and raised in Wisconsin. I am a cheese-eating, beer-drinking and overall working class kind of artist.
I attended the Peck School of the Arts at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, where I found painting to be my medium of choice. At first oils, but later acrylic. Since graduating with a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts, I have successfully exhibited my work both locally and internationally, showcasing the themes of an individual raised on Saturday Morning Cartoons, inspired by the day to day world and trained classically in technique.
As an artist, my personal and professional work focuses on narrative. My goal is to advance and legitimize concepts of visual storytelling by making narratives accessible.
“Accessible” is a blank term and it has to change as the situation dictates. My work needs to be something that is complex enough to create intrigue, while remaining tangible; it needs to build the ego of the audience while remaining humble itself; and it has to be the envy of the snobbish while being affordable to the masses.
Everyone may have a story to tell, but I want to make sure as I spin my yarns, there’s someone eager to wear the finished sweater.
